They'll grow so fast they'll probably catch up to larger specimens in a year's time!

Honey Kiss certainly will not grow fast.  Cotton Candy is yet to be seen how fast they will grow

But in the ground with spreading roots they grow faster than in a pot, don't they?

Of course but its still a compact, slower grower...in the same way Pickering is.

My honey kiss is growing much faster than my pickering.  I've had the honey kiss 2 years and it's around 7 ft tall.  I've had the pickering 3 years and it's 5 feet tall

I wasnt saying its the same growth rate, just that both are slower and more compact whether in a pot or in the ground.

I believe so.  It is been my experience the quicker I get them in the ground the better.

A 3 gal Honey Kiss I planted two years ago is smaller than Purple Alligator's, but bushier. It's got a slow growth habit, and it's nodes are close together, so tipping induces a more bush-like appearance. Have to remove the lowest branches this summer.

Wow!  Honey Kiss is a nice little tree.  It definitely complements Pickering in the "compact tree"category.

If you're going to keep them in pots I recommend a root tip pruning system like RootMaker.  It will greatly extend the root system and retard the need to upcan.

Vigor aside a tree's natural or PGR applied induced short internodes defines a short compact grower versus a tall leggy one.  My Lemon Zest is responding very well to Bonzi treatments.  It is a (young) and beautiful tree.  Is still dormant here in central Texas FWIW.

Mark where online can i buy the RootMaker 7 Gal pot and how exactly it prunes the roots or once they pop out the holes then you cut them ?

Thanks ed or should i place them in a 15 Gal RootMaker?

I only see a 5 Gal Rootmaker pot on there Website , how long can you keep a 3 Gal Mango tree in a 5 Gal rootmaker pot ?

Thanks Ed

Well 3 times 5 equals 15 and if you carry the one, naught from naught leaves naught....not sure if there is an answer to that  :D    I do think larger ones are available.  Have you checked Excalibur for larger plants?  Just a short drive away---make a Saturday of it.
