Black Sapote
« on: April 07, 2017, 03:38:02 AM »
My black sapote seedling will turn 3 years old this coming july.
It's growing slowly but nicely, it's about   6 feet (2 meters) high.

The only one problem is that some of the leaves are showing a strange-pattern yellowing.
It's affecting mainly the older leaves.

I guess it's some mineral deficiency but i'm not sure. Maybe Magnesium? Or Zinc?
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestion!

Magnesium is what that indicates but likely deficient in other things as well. Give it a balanced fertilizer that includes micros and sprinkle around the tree a quarter cup of Epsom salt in addition.

There is not much source for organic fertilizers in the Philippines compare here in the US.

What u can do imo is that u put any kind of manure (except human waste), wood ash, and mulch away. As time passes by it will break down the organic matter, thus breaking down the clay soil converting them to nutrients. It may take awhile, though it will work in time...

Unless u want a quick reaction, go for synthetic (high in iron, magnesium, sulfur & zinc). But i dont recommend using synthetic fertilizers.

This is just my opinion. U could ask other any other experienced growers here. :)
