Tropic Beauty Peaches almost ready?
« on: April 26, 2017, 07:45:38 PM »
I recently got a Tropic Beauty, it had a few nice peaches on it, here they are. I heard around May harvest time for them. Is this accurate? How do they look?

smell them if they smell peachy, they're good to go. note they will also smell great to every rat, iguana, and squirrel with a 5-mile radius, so pick them before they do.

when the peach gets soft it is ready. I have to pick them a little hard or the stink bugs poke holes in them
and other bugs get in the holes. Usually the peach is about to get soft when they blush or turn color. They absolutely taste
the best if they ripen on the tree. Hopefully you don't have bug issues but if you have a allot of fruit the bugs figure it out
and you have to spray or pick them a little early. Judging by the color in the picture I bet they are soft or will be soon.
This year with the lack of cold I have been eating peaches for over 2 months. Usually my tree is done by May but this
year the trees had several blooms and they fruit has come in stages.

Definitely not too soft or it will start to ferment. Just start gently squeezing them and you will quickly learn
when is perfect.

Look at the top where the stem connects. When the green color there disappears and turns to yellow or orange you're good to pick, even if it isn't soft yet.
