Hawaii: What fruit will be available early August?
« on: July 28, 2017, 11:37:41 AM »
We'll be there August 1 - 11, spending most of our time on the Big Island and Kauai. We're doing both Hilo and Kona sides on the Big Island and will have rental car on the islands, so hopefully there's a local market where we can pick some fruit up.

What's going to be a available?

No fruit. Just poi...    :P

For the most part, it's going to be the same stuff you find in FL. To find obscure stuff you will either have to go on fruit tours or visit some farmers markets.

At least for Kauai, the local super markets still don't carry much local fruit. It has been an uphill battle to get them to carry locally grown products.

In Hilo go to the farmer's market at the bay front, on either a wednesday or saturday morning. In Kona check out the South Kona fruit stand. They have a websita. Should be lots of fruit around. Do a search for previous Hawaii forum threads. This kind of question has been asked so many times.

That's on Oahu. I believe he is going to Kauai and Big Island? Some people smart now, and fly direct, bypassing Honolulu all together.
Some fruits available here on Big Island in August: Breadfruit, Marang, Jackfruit, Soursop, Mangoes, Mamey sapote, Mammee Apple, sapodilla, durian, probably mangosteen, maybe langsat.
