Pickering, ndm, Maha, julie and iman passand all breaking out into what looks like it will be their heaviest bloom ever.

Apart from that warm spell in the second half of December
.this year's winter season has been surprisingly good for cool temps, especially given the shit winters we have recently had and this one was forecasted to be warm again

Looking forward to see how the s. Fl lychee bloom is when it gets going hopefully soon..

Seeing the beginning of buds starting to get ready on my lychees.

Yes, surprisingly finally a pretty good winter so far. A little too much rain but I’ll take the cold.

My grass is always wet in the morning. Too much morning dew which can promote fungus on mango panicles. Just saying....   Hoping for a good lychee year for all!

Due to the hurricane I thought we might be in for a "different" winter as in cold for mangoes and lychee dormancy. Speaking about South Florida and South East Florida.

Definitely enjoying this cool/colder winter. We definitely deserve it after such a miserable and long summer, but I wish we can stay above 32 degrees so the damage to plants and tropicals trees are a lot less  ;)

2011 was a the last good winter I recall, for South Florida at least. But I am cautiously excited that this winter will beat that 2011 summer in terms of productivity.

Blooming: Edward, Keitt, Coconut Cream, lemon zest, Angie, Glenn, and FINALLY my Galaxy.
Doing little or nothing: Rapoza, and only swelling buds on my new Coc and Sweet Tart

Up until recently, our winters here in south florida consisted of cold fronts roughly every 10 or so days from Dec to Jan. This is the first semi-normal winter we've had in a few years (except for the rain as Alex mentioned).

The past 3 or so winters were extremely mild, with cold coming in Feb or later, leading to a lot of confused mango trees, with mixed bloom / vegetative growth.

So far, bloom looks really good, despite hurricane Irma, which forced me to prune my trees much later in the season than I would have liked.

Spectacular:
Pickering (every single terminal end is blooming with multiple spikes, and this is about a 9ftx10ft very well branched tree)

Full or near full:
NDM, Julie, Carrie

Decent:
Iman Passand

First time:
Maha (fairly decent bloom)

Completely unexpected:
An old potted and neglected Graham that hasn't bloomed in about 2 or 3 seasons ..so should definitely be a good mango year if this one is blooming.

Still asleep:
slightly neglected potted Mallika, not expecting much from this though.

Sidenote..Sweetheart lychee is starting to put out a spectacular bloom, seeing small bloom spikes emerging at every end. and this is about a 20 ft by 20 ft tree, that took last year off..should be a great lychee year too!

Wow, awesome! Thanks, Jani! Have you ever pruned it, and if so, how much and how often? Was hoping to get mine in the ground in March, but my property in Charlotte County won't be ready then. Hopefully in May. Here are my two Pickering trees (with an Ice Cream separating them). They were kept indoors when we went into the 20s here in Spring Hill.

Only done a little annual tip pruning after harvest each summer.
And I pruned a few beat up tips after Irma.

Never did any major pruning.

Blooms just starting for me in central FL. Manilita, which is always earliest in my yard is just pushing blooms. Others either showing some budswell or still dormant.

Weekend forecast has high 50's overnight for South Miami area. Is that cold enough to help with blooms?

It won’t do anything for stuff already flushing growth but could potentially influence some things that are still dormant.

Looks like a more uniform bloom from indicator trees around town.  They don't look as patchy as last year.  Could be a good year but we'll see.
