In a break from tradition I've planted a tree that will never bear mangos.




I'm told that Angelino Loqu is a small but especially tasty mamey sapote.

Beautiful tree. That should compliment your mangoes nicely. While it takes a long time for fruit to mature, when it gets going you might have mamey year round.

Where did you find it, Dan?  Is it a new variety?  The yellow tag looks like it could be "Just Fruits and Exotics."  I didn't think they carried mamey sapote.

Small as in loquat sized... You sure that is a mamey? Looks like a loquat and Loqu probably should have been Loquat.

I'm hoping it will be sweeter than the Oliver I planted 30 some years ago.

Here in Spain best variety by far is Tanaka. Big fruit, sweet and complex flavor. As good as any other fruit in spring season, a must have in subtropics in my opinion.
