Banana Tree leaf tips yellowing
« on: December 01, 2018, 01:02:59 PM »
This potted indoor banana has slight yellowing and brown around the leaf tips, even on the new leaves. Too much water? Too Little? Fertilizer problem? It is under full-spectrum lights.

Might be a fungus. Bananas are very susceptible to fungi.

The problem is probably too complex to diagnose but my guess would be nutritional. If in Montana good luck to you.
Winter container culture of tropicals must be very challenging. Even just lower temps could be the problem. You might consider Basjoo banana it can come back even with frost.

Would more careful watering help fungi? This time of year the temperature is in the high 60's to low 70's, usually 80's+ in the summer. I've only fertilized it with all-purpose organic fertilizer and fish poop (from a chemical-free fish tank). Maybe it needs more potassium?

Move to south Florida --- problem solved.  At least take a visit.  You are welcome to check my bananas mangos and avocado.  Best time for fruit is June/July.
