Free Traveler Palm (sorry it's not a fruit!)
« on: March 23, 2014, 11:04:43 PM »
My mango tree is impinging.....sorry....I mean this Traveler Palm is crowding
my new Lemon Zest Mango.  I'll dig it up for you and help you load it....

I live in Palm Springs,California.  The palm is about 7 years old, and 10 feet
high, though it could be cut back for transportation.  Please send me a PM
if you are interested.

Thanks, Gary

....and in case you're not familiar with it, this is what it's supposed to become as it gets bigger....

They can get very big and grow quickly once the woody trunk forms. The clumps that form are like the biggest banana patch of all time and the produce many seeds with a high germination rate. They can look good if suckers are trimmed.

Yes, we saw them when traveling in southern Asia and Africa
and bought a couple at an out of the way nursery in So Cal....
BUT....out here, they don't hold the leaves very long, because
of the cold I think, and thus don't develop that fan look (at least
out here in the desert) which I love....

I think maybe someone living near the coast here might have better
luck in developing the east-west fan shape.....
