Sergio, at first I very doubtful whether to prune them or not, but as you can see on the pictures, it worked out. I first pruned the tip when the seedling was close to 3 ft high. Month later, my brother cut again the tips. ..

Beautiful plant! Water water water? I'm not sure if this plant is suited for my arid climate. Does it need more water than a banana? Does it have a tap root?

Sergio, my guess is that with good cultural practices, they should be fruiting in less then 10 years. Over here are some 15 years old huge seedling mameys producing a lot, meaning that they started to produce some years ago.

I would tip-prune both trees, to induce branching and more horizontal growth, or else they will grow like pines  :D

Noel, where did you get your rollinia from? Did you distribute budwood from this specimen?

I've taste a few rollinias, none impressed me. The bigger sized had the worst (bland) taste.

Sergio, WS can be airlayered??

As far as I know, in the spanish mainland you can find Vernon, Dade, Mc Dill and Wooly (C. tetrameria). I not sure if those cultivars are the best taste wise.

John, please ask him! I'm also very curious about this cultivar...

As I said, I will be able to acquire a Magana and Viejo in a few month. Specially the last one sounds and looks very appealing to me. Also the dwarf growing habit could be positve in my case, because of less wind exposure  8)

JF, I would think it could be a nutrient issue, but as far as I know WS does not need/like too much water...

BTW, what is the difference between organic and non-organic granules? Marketing?

I also fertilize with something like 10-10-10 with micro-nutrients, mainly during spring-summer. Nitrogen apparently does not inhibit fruit production, but makes the tree grow a lot. Maybe that could be a problem for container growing and small yards, but thats not may case..

I absolutelly agree! Remeber that the industry wants us to buy all the expensive products, so they are not interested in us being aware of the risks and danger of using those chemicals...

Noel, the TREC in homestead has the greatest collection of cultivars? Do you know how many they have? I thought the greatest collection was in the USDA station in PR...

Currently I'm only growing Pantin and a mexican seedling (the fruit was excellent!). I'm probably will add in 6-12 month Magana and Viejo to my collection...

I think one nice fruit that I'm not growing but could perform in my place is santol.
Then there are some brazilian fruit, which are reported to be great, but I'm not growing. Jaboticaba is my only Myrciaria and so far no fruits (so far it does not grow too much. I thinks it needs more water and humididy).

Rambutan, pulasan, durian, mangosteen are mission imposible aver here..

BTW, I think maprang is overrated in this forum; it's like a mago-flavoured plum, inferior to a decent mango.
