Have you tried growing Lychee Tomato (Solanum sisymbriifolium)? It is also spiny like that and the “tomatoes” are pretty tasty. I think Trade Winds had seeds if you find it interesting.

I have litchi tomato seeds they taste like cherries and tomatoes. Sorry i know its not one youre looking for. But i ashure you its very thorny and nasty. Cold hardy too. Unlike the other.
