you have to try fruits yourself to come up you fav ones.

get the general list from the forum members here and see if someone is willing to ship you the fruits

my list is now different after personally tasted some ..  to my surprise i also like Venus , Kiran Michael  (both are hardly mentioned here) as well as J-14,  peach cobbler

other top tier that i tried and very much like it was Coconut cream , sugar loaf and Mallika (yes Mallika too :)

for some reason or got the bad batch i dont very found of Super Alphonso or kesar i got  (may be pick to early)

i also like East indian taste wise , but have fiber in it , for which i have no problem . but others may disagree

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Mexicola avocado taste and types
« on: December 12, 2019, 03:35:59 PM »
initially i was in the same boat , regretting why i had planted Mexicola , when there are so many other good choice available

do remember, my conclusion was based on online research only , not with actual taste test my own

but this year, my Mexicola fruited first time, its become instant hit in my family . kids love it and so as the other family members.

for kids, its a perfect size snack to take to school or eat at home

and for me and my wife love the spice that comes with the skin , the flesh is good too.

so i wouldn't rule out Mexicola just yet.

Awesome
Loving this thread of people trying out the seedlings

But what if we end up finding a good variety that would like to propagate?

would we need help from established nursery?

That’s Sindhri looks different from what I had back home or the box we get from overseas

Shindhri normally have very broad shoulder and then slim down with curve

Could be growing condition effecting the shape

I too had business in past with Lynn and got some really specimen from her

But as pointed out earlier , her shipments were in question and put plants in unnecessary stress

Survival rate of lychee was 15 to 25% and mango trees drop most of its leaves before recovering

From last two year I was getting trees from Jim (Ebay) , bit expensive but ship tree in pots , and then the survival rate was more then 80% for lychee and mango tree recover in no time with no min leave drop

But sadly he passed away this year and now I think her daughter take over the business and shipping tree out , already got two good size 7 gal mango tree and next week “ little gem” (3 gal ) on its way

Thinking about supporting them more from now on , very good service and very response

Pls PM me for contact info

Agree that much is missing , specially when it is reported in one of the top news outlet in a country , some verification like photos , video or visit to the research facility will be highly needed

Seems like same Ebay seller is back with Pakistani mango varieties

Is it still old scam or this time able to secure right budwood ?

Or just remove the top part from the barrel, put it back at the bottom , and attached casters

Like I did for this Lamb Hass avocado tree

2nd season crop. Almost ready to harvest. And I still don't see the sigmoidal look of a mahanChanok trait.

Can you pls share the setup you have there to grow tropical fruits , from pics it’s looks like some sort of permanent greenhouse

I live within 40 miles from your place, and may take some pointers from your setup

I purchase 3x15gal last year
Two from Lowe’s (via Laverne nursery) 1x Mexicola, 1x Bacon
And one from menlo grower Pinkerton

Two of them , which was planted in front yard doing great , see attached pics

That’s why I was willing to try 2 more 15 gal

Did follow some general guidelines, like don’t pull the tree from pot , cut the pot away , plus I mounted up , meaning only 1/3 of the plant was in ground and rest I put more compost and layer of mulch around

One thing that I noticed that trees from La-Verne was in much better soil, but the tree from menlo growers are in like crush rocks and sand , much heavier and not easy to handle

14
Most nursery don’t carry 15gal here
Was only able to find some at “God little Acre Nursery” with cost around $200, and if you negotiate then $180

But the best choice selection I found (with my bit of research) was at “Menlo Grower” in Gilroy, CA with almost 50-60 15gal avocado trees , multiple varieties to chose from

I pick two at price of $160 each , lamb Hass and Reid

Pics attached

Any other resources in bayarea that I missed, anyone checkout local farmers market ?

Thank You Squam! F the Scammers. Please post this Loser's contact info if possible.

Phone number on his ads: 810-348-8292

I called him other day, he was quite defiant. Initially claimed he had all his trees grafted in Ormond Beach, even though I have an invoice proving otherwise. He then got angry and dropped a lot of F bombs.

He’s changed his story several times with different people apparently.

F words.
red flag right there , any genuine business person will never use them with customers

Really appreciate your due diligence here

This post needed to permanent post for sometime on this forum , to maker sure that rest of forum read it

Hopefully from now on, no one will be deceived by him

I filled a complained on PayPal , will let you know of any outcome

17
This is big
Can you pls share the details , how you come to this conclusion

I need this information to start my refund from Ebay or PayPal

18
May be let them know about this forums
It will be good to hear their part of the story

Well in my case , I felt betrayed
Those Pakistani mango plants were getting special treatment

Brought them inside my master bedroom next to sunny windows for winter , and not to forget that they are in clay pot ( heavy ) and my bedroom is at first floor

And I don’t have to mentioned master bedroom = wife not happy

So all this effort for Florida mango:(
They should be out in greenhouse, with rest of my collection

Not fair

20
Interesting , my tropical pink guava in wine barrel was done with the fruits in nov last year

This year got excellent crop

21
Funny thing is that his listing is always for 1 plants per variety’, but magically they are never out of stock

Plus the pic provided for the budwood tree (now that we known is fake) , can’t produce that many budwood , plus there is no sign of budwood taken

Now getting more suspicious about his whole operation

22
Got an idea , may be worthwhile to follow up

Senior member from this forum, living close to the buyer , can ask for walk-in tour for their nursery and business

They will get access to our community and we will get our authentication

23
Are we sure , that the seller is selling Zill mango as Pak/Indian mango

Don’t want to hurt someone business just on speculation

24
Quote
GuavaKing I believe . Ormond Beach. Selling 1 gallon trees from Zill as rare Indian varieties.

Check out what fell out of our “Langra” pot we got from him:

Not coincidentally the leaves looked like NDM #4 as well. I suspect the “Anwar Rataul “ we were sent is actually a Julie. Also a Banganpalli we got through him is clearly not a Banganapalli because it lacks the flat pointed leaves and thin stem.

Oh No , I recently bought 5 plants from them , if that is the case we need to create separate thread to warn other forms members about them

Still can’t believe someone openly sell fake

25
Damage on mango will visible much later on , atleast that’s my experience
