Mature Cupuacu Fruit
« on: December 30, 2013, 12:24:44 AM »

Hi,

Finally got a mature Cupuacu fruit after dropping in my lone tree.  Taste really great and exotic. considered a national fruit in Brazil.  the sweet and tartness of the pulp is great. Good for shake and smoothies.  i hope to try the cupulate in the future.

Congratulations! Cupuacu ice cream is famous in Brazil for being one of the best. They also have chocolate bon bons with cupucu filling that is really delicious, and very many other products, like jams, jellies, candies, etc.

Oscar,

Thanks for the details on how to process Cupuacu fruits.  I hope also to try cupulate or make cupuacu tablets to make hot cupulate drinks like what we do here with cacao seeds.  But i feel the lone tree bore an inferior variety in which the pod is small. Got 5-7 seedlings, i'll plant more. I hope to get better varieties.

Ethan,

I'll try to get pictures of my cupuacu tree. But the tree is almost 10 feet and 4 years old.  I almost cut the tree because i thought it will never bear fruit.

Yes, Bill Whitman once told me that he did fruit Cupuassu in Florida.  I did not see the fruit myself but his trees were large and I did see them flowering.
