The fruit

The seeds

These were purchased in Bali.   Are these the "monoecious" variety?   Thank you.

I believe all the Balinese ssp are monoecious (while Javans are not).  I put a link in the library a while back about these, you can find it here:

Thanks for the reply, John.  Is there any possibility that the fruits purchased in Bali could be Javan variety?

Another question.   Will partly ripened fruits ripe after being plucked from the plant?

The picking can be tricky. We have a lot of trees in production and not all the fruits look the same when ripe. What works best for us is to pick a single fruit, open it and check the seed color. If the seed is not turning brown we leave the bunch there another week and check again.
My impression is that the fruits continue to ripen after picking.

Thanks for the explanation,  Peter.   What color is the seed of unripe fruit?  Also, is it possible to grow from brown seeds of yet to fully ripe fruits?

The unripe fruits have white colored seeds that turn light brown , then dark brown. I have seen very light colored seeds get darker after picking, perhaps over a 2 week period, and this is what makes me think that the fruits continue to ripen after harvest.
