New peach tree help
« on: June 15, 2020, 11:17:11 AM »
I planted a bare root Florida prince peach tree a few months back. It sprouted new leaves and this is how they look so far. I don't know what to do. Looks like a fungus so I sprayed copper on the leaves. This is in 10a FL.

Your tree should be pushing dark green leaves this time of year.
Fertlize the hell out of the tree. Peaches are heavy feeders!
that tree looks like it's starving. With all the rain I would suggest a
slow release fertilizer and maybe some miralce grow drenches
Make sure you put the fertlizer outside of the dripline.

Agreed that it's a fertilizer issue.

BTW, copper does not work after the fact, it can only help before fungal attack. To spray it after will do worse than nothing.

Looks like really sandy soil, would benefit mixing compost with the native soil to enrich with nutrients

Last sumer I was spraying mine with a copper based fungicide as a remedy for peach leaf curl and some other fungal infection going on ....aw it did was to make the leaves sort of yellow and more then half of them fell ...there were green leaves falling by the slightest of breeze ...
I think cooper should be done when the tree is not active, this year I sprayed it 2 times in fall after the leaf fall, and again 2 times in spring before flowering , and no more then and now have dark green leaves and the tree is l loded with fruit set

Such reactions can usually be traced back to how you planted.  For example, if you have clay and amended the backfill ya done killed the tree.
