This tree was described to me by the seller as an "Australian" type. Is this fruit ready to be picked? Should I wait for it to soften up a bit?
Thanks,
Trung

Sure looks ready to me. I've picked many cherimoyas hard but when the color started to yellow like your atemoya and they ripened up perfectly. Leave it too long and it could drop from the tree and damage the fruit. I'm eager to hear a taste report on that beauty!

It's ready for picking but if you have some patient, wait a bit more for it to soften on the tree.  The one I had last year, I checked on it every single day.  Oh boy, it was so worth it.  Make sure to chill it in the frig after it soften up.  Let us know the taste either way.
