2 nd year fruiting , only a few the first . Very pleasant sweet taste and super juicy . I had some great ice-cream of this in Brazil . The seed was collected in Brazil from a 1.20 to 1.50 plant . Mine is a little taller but less than 2 meter . A no problem grower , is usually neglected , very drought resistant .

Due to the small size of the tree there will not be a ton of fruit....so automatically seeds will be limited . For sale or trade .

This fruit was the first this year should have stayed a few days longer on the tree ...but I wanted to show of....lol.

Hi Luc,

Do you know if this species is hardier than the regular cashew apple (A. occidentale), which
is very tender, unfortunately.

It's reported range seems to extend well into the south of Brazil, so I wonder...

I really don't know Sergio , like I mentioned in other posts the temperature at the farm never goes below 7 Celsius in winter-nights , I also grow the A. occidentale red and yellow . They don't suffer . Some of these also grow wild higher up - colder - no water except during the rainy season ( July trough October ) and they produce well .
I must say that I prefer the taste of the A . humile .

Sergio , I would like to ad that one year I collected seeds from these wild cashews , red and yellow , both were growing in the same area , only the reds germinated and none of the yellow .

I do have one yellow that is exceptional in size and taste , unfortunately that was one of the trees chopped down by government workers doing a survey . It is growing again but may take a while to start fruiting again .

I too would like some seeds if you can spare them Luc.  I didn't realize you can eat the cashew apple whole - I was told to squeeze as much juice out as possible... The squeezed flesh is then eaten with chili salt... Delicious!!!  :D

interesting, any idea why?  the red and yellow i collected from the Philippines all germinated lovely.  i noted though they are VERY prone to root rot and had to switch to a mineral cactus mix cut with 40% real soil to stop the rot (its wet when planted).

do  humile have as harsh irritation of the skin?

3-6 years here.  i have some 5' trees fruiting, they can be kept small with pruning.  anyone know how pruning affects flower/fruit?

Kimi,

very cool!

I have about 5 plants, same size from same source (Luc last year)....they are sensitive to soil conditions...or excess rainfall...

seems like yours are suffering like mine...

leaves never look happy...

I always keep these damn anacardiums too wet....

I'm starting to think I need to revise my soil mix...

maybe a mix for germinating seeds, with lots of perlite.
