If you are going to call others stupid, then you should really know the difference between "no" and "know," as well as "then" and "than." You should also probably know when you are spouting off to an administrator of the forum.  It's kind of like sending your employer an email saying, "Hay boss, you is dum!"

That was written by your moderator, not myself. I did not have any typo's so you just called out your moderator for lacking proper use of the English language!

Typo Dee, I was on the phone writing this talking at the same time on the phone. Sometimes it happens but I think it was understandable still so get over it. What is more important is factual truth, try focusing on that!

Tone it down or you're going to be banned.

I have been eating mango skins since I was at least 3 years old and I have not had any ill effect. There are people who may have an allergy to mango skin, and those people should not eat mango skins then. It's the same as with any allergy. Should no one eat peanuts or drink milk because some people have allergic reactions to them?

I think you're the only one "spewing stupidity" here right now.

If I am spewing stupidity than obviously facts and truth are void in your head. This is not peanuts or milk so confusing the subject matter with that is totally foolish. Eating skins since 3 has nothing to do with anything either so go study and learn something on the subject matter. People have been eating lard since 3 and that doesn't make it smart either. It's about the same intelligence as you are showing here and now.

Lots of people eat mango skin. Pretty common among mango connoisseurs. Mango neophytes are generally averse to eating the skin though.

Till your dumb ass gets dermatitis and you then realize you cannot do it any more because your skin is cracking on the corner of your mouth and won't stop. I have seen so many stupid posts you make but this one may be tops for the dumb ass of the year award, which is a crowded field so congrats on the win. Gain some knowledge on this subject before you spew stupidity for others to see.

They jumped the gun, uneven ripening and a flop.

Steve is great and doesn't lie!  But Super Haas sucks.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Best September+ Mango besides Keitt?
« on: July 25, 2018, 11:46:23 PM »
I have found my Peach Cobbler to actually be slightly earlier than my Lemon Zest. I have no idea about Honey Kiss but would like to see any mango tree out yield my Keitt for I do not think it is possible. It may be a fungus magnet but for sheer yield and late ripening, I do not think it can be beat.

Eating the skin of mangoes is stupid, plain and simple. There is no nutritive value to it and although it may contain slight amounts of fiber, it also contains substances on and in the skin that can cause severe skin reactions like dermatitis that is dangerous for many people. Making a video like that is reckless and many people could follow this foolish practice who no nothing about mangoes. The fiber is found in the mango itself with massive amounts of vitamin A so absolutely no need to eat the skin.

I can only say that only a really stupid person would eat the skin.

They taste like cantaloupe with a strong vanilla finish. I just described these fruit to a girl and wanted to show her pics of the fruit and saw this old post describing the flavor the same way as I did minus the vanilla.

Cat Ram!  I grow Dot and even though it is a disease magnate, it can hold its own against any and all competition. I had a girl over for a taste testing comparing Peach Cobbler, Lemon Zest, and Dot. She had all three and could not pick a favorite for they all were great in a different way. I went back to them again and tried to get her to pick after 3rd and 4th tastings. They all were prime specimens so the comparisons were fair between them. Of the three, Peach Cobbler is the cleanest tree and fruit by far!

And for God sakes, do not forget the Smith for that beats out most everything in the taste dept. and in Louisiana is loved by most. A true heirloom fig!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Seeking info on M-4 mango
« on: July 20, 2018, 08:56:28 AM »
For someone to suggest growing C.C over E-4 or M-4 is simply uneducated in growing the tree. The C.C is a nightmare and literally grows sideways falling all over the place. I have seen many with the same problem. I dug it up and sold it 5 years ago.  I will be giving my M-4 about 4 years to show it's value and take my chances. If flavor is good, it stays. Do not care about alternate bearing if the flavor is great, I have 6 more trees to take up the slack.

Totally agree!  Get the fruit you really want rather then the best disease resistance. You are going to have to treat them with fungicide more than likely anyway, so get the winners for your tastebuds.

Steve is the best, a true class act. I think I first met him in 1994 or maybe earlier and he put in the time and climbed the ladder the hard way. I actually helped him move tons of trees from Treehouse to his business when they first started out with Fruitscapes.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Ice cream mango
« on: July 19, 2018, 02:12:23 PM »
I have had them all and have LZ, OS, M-4, Phoenix, Peach Cobbler, and Dot. I do not like certain types based on flavor, not just sweetness.  I know Honey Kiss or Juicy Peach would probably win me over big time but am out of room.  Need to add a few to the ones I have if I want to accomplish that.

I traded the most beautiful Ice Cream on earth back to Fruitscapes nursery. I was not a fan of that pine taste or whatever you want to call it. It was super sweet and really too sweet for my taste also.

Ok, what am I missing here?  PC to P.C, Brilliant. lol

20
Ok, it was from that Russian chic who buys from him out there.

Fruitscapes in Bokelia is a great honest place. I have known Steve for over 20 years. He personally said his Phoenix is a sour tasting fruit, and unfortunately I was the one who told him to get it. Reax everyone, it is only a damn tree. Who knows, they may turn out to be ok. I read somewhere that a guy on here said Gary Zill was not happy with his Phoenix and chopped it down to the ground and it came back and fruited excellent fruit. I saw this last night and forgot the guys name!

22
interesting! We shall see.

23
Cac I only had it twice, not for me either time. I will not give up on Phoenix either. Was yours off of a grafted tree?

24
Wish I liked the fruit of P.P but do not. Would like to get Nancy, I would think it might work, watcha think?

25
exactly, a very good idea and close to what it will be. And for the 7-8 varieties I have had, they are pretty close if not exactly what they were at 5 years or longer. I cannot speak for all the other varieties like C.C, I got rid of mine before trialing the fruit. You can usually tell what that fruit will become! Phoenix has me worried, I think it may be a flop!
