Over 10 years ago, we purchased an unusual specimen from a nursery in Entre Ríos, Argentina. It was growing amongst typical Guaviyu (Myrcianthes pungens) plants.

Since transplanting and cultivating it at a field of a friend in Junín, this variety began fruiting a few years ago. As it used to fruit later than the other guabijus and the fruit looked smaller, I just thought it was just a smaller guabiju variety... It was only recently that I tasted them and paid closer attention and noticed several distinguishing traits:

More open, shrubby growth form versus Guaviyu's tree-like habit.

Slight variant in leaf shape and coloration.

Fruit ripens through bright yellow and orange hues not seen in Guaviyu.

Distinct green seed color rather than brown.

Greatly elongated fruiting panicles.

Smooth fruit skin lacking Guaviyu's fine hairs.

Most notably, its intensely sweet tropical flavor is stronger than Guaviyu.

Through continued selection and propagation at our Junín nursery, I now have a limited number of seeds available. Please contact me if you're interested in cultivating this intriguing find.

I appreciate you taking the time to clarify the background. Please share details of this discovery with other collectors and nurseries.

YACARATIA

Jacaratia spinosa, commonly known as yacaratiá (from Guarani, jakarati’a), is a flowering plant species belonging to the Caricaceae family.

Distribution
It is endemic to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Paraguay. It is found in canopies of forests that are over 15 m in height.

Description
It is a lactiferous tree, ranging from 10 to 30 m in height and 8 dm in diameter. The branches have glabrous thorns. The leaves are compound, digitate, alternate, with 6-10 (12) leaflets, oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, measuring 3.5-17 cm × 1-4 cm, with a glaucous underside; petiole 5-23 (34) cm long.

Monoecious: male inflorescence with 7-28 (33) tiny, white flowers, 1-3 cm long, light green. Female inflorescence with erect, pedunculate flower, 2-3 cm long. Pear-shaped berry fruit, 3-12 cm × 1-5 cm, turning yellow-orange when ripe. Seed is 5 mm, chestnut-colored.

The plant is easily recognizable due to abundant thorns, glaucous undersides of leaves, and elongated, pedunculate fruits.

Uses
The pulp is also used as food, either processed with sugar or cut and toasted. The fruit is edible and sweet, with a flavor similar to papaya. Monkeys inhabiting the jungles where this tree species grows, including (Cebus apella), consume its fruits.

The wood is white, weak, and not suitable for making furniture or other uses in the wood industry. However, in Argentina, specifically in the province of Misiones, an engineer named Roberto Pascutti patented a process to turn it into food. It is used to make chocolates and other confections, such as alfajores and "confit boards." To make it edible, the wood is cut into special sections, and within 24 hours, the processing begins to remove substances affecting taste and reduce rigidity. This results in a soft consistency that retains some wood characteristics and aligns with the new gastronomic trend of unconventional foods. In other countries, barrels are made from the hollowed trunk.

We've recently harvested a substantial quantity of sweet uvaia fruit in Misiones. Are there any buyers interested in purchasing them in bulk?

If there's demand, I'll need to determine whether to dispatch additional quantities of 100, 200, 500, or 1000 units to my partner for distribution across the USA and worldwide. Given that bulk shipping allows a maximum of 2500 seeds per shipment, our selection will depend on the demand for each species. Your feedback on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Please send in your orders and/or ideas with pricing offers. For instance, retailing 100 seeds at USD 300, but we're open to offering significant bulk discounts, especially for nurseries and large-scale purchases

Myrciaria glazioviana, commonly known as Cabeludinha or Yellow jaboticaba. This extraordinary fruit tree boasts a delightful citrus-like flavor that will tantalize your taste buds. While it may not have as much pulp as its cousins, the jaboticaba and guaporetí, Cabeludinha offers a truly exquisite pulp that is sure to impress.

One of the remarkable features of Cabeludinha is its high vitamin C content. With a generous 600mg of vitamin C per 100 grams, this fruit is a powerhouse of essential nutrients. Incorporating Cabeludinha into your diet not only satisfies your cravings for a citrusy taste but also provides a significant boost to your immune system.

Cabeludinha is more than just a fruit tree; it's a conversation starter! Its unique appearance, with clusters of small, round fruits adorning its branches, will undoubtedly catch the eye of anyone who visits your garden. Imagine the joy of plucking these vibrant fruits and savoring their zesty, refreshing flavor straight from the tree.

When it comes to cultivation, Cabeludinha is relatively low maintenance. It thrives in tropical and subtropical climates (-3ºC hardiness), making it an ideal choice for many regions. With proper care and attention, you can witness the beauty of this tree as it grows and bears its delicious fruits year after year.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to add Cabeludinha to your collection of fruit trees. Its citrus-like flavor, exquisite pulp, and impressive vitamin C content make it a valuable addition to any garden or orchard. Experience the joy of indulging in this exceptional fruit and reap the health benefits it provides. Order your Cabeludinha tree today and embark on a flavorful journey like no other!

This is different from the previous ones I tasted in the past years, this is top notch!

The Guaporetí variety stands out for its remarkably robust and charismatic taste, reminiscent of the renowned jaboticaba fruit. This Brazilian native fruit seed offers a unique flavor profile that combines the essence of jaboticaba, grape, and peach, resulting in a truly special sensory experience.

With its stronger and more pronounced flavor, this Guaporetí variety sets itself apart, offering a taste that exudes personality and individuality. Its resemblance to jaboticaba adds to its allure, evoking the lusciousness and depth of this beloved Brazilian fruit.

Imagine savoring the delightful amalgamation of the sweet and tangy notes of jaboticaba, the subtle undertones of grapes, and the juiciness of peaches/mango. Guaporetí captures the essence of these flavors, blending them harmoniously to create an extraordinary taste that is truly one-of-a-kind.
