Hoping they do well in Florida
What's the name of the nursery you bought your missile wax Jambi from? Do you know if they ship to California?
Ong nursery in Linda Vista has about 40 varieties, most of them are airlayers from Florida, many from Maurice Kong.

We have soursop in north San Diego county! I was surprised to find it on my tree last week. Especially with with the cold weather in February and March. It's getting greenEr and bigger by the day. There was only three flowers on the tree in January so I didn't care to try to pollinate it. This tree has been in ground for four years without protection. The last two years had about 6-12 bloom. I tried hand pollination but it didn't take. Crossing my fingers, hoping it won't fall off!

This is a picture of my side yard. The bed is about 24 inches wide and 30 ft. Long. The walk path is 48 inches wide. I have a small yard and would like to plant just fruit trees. Currently I have a Guava, white sapodila and two figs plants (one of the fig plant I just dug out) will dig the rest of plants out this week. The fig plants roots started pushing up the pavers and its a mess during fruiting season. The guava plant isnt very good and sapodila isn't doing too well also I read that their root system is very invasive. I would like to replace these trees with fruit tree with less invasive root system. If possible, I would like to plant a row of Annona.
Are Annona root system invasive? What other fruit tree can/should I grow in the bed? Any suggestions is much appreciated!

I purchased a Vietnamese Cherimoya from Lowes a year a go. Last year it put out some flowers (slender and fuzzy looking compared to the honeyheart). I did not get any fruit from the tree. Do I need another variety to pollinate it? The Vietnamese Cherimoya is the only annona plant that is flushing with buds right now. Can someone give me a review on the taste? I already have a bunch of AP grafting on it but was wondering if I should graft some more.

It is very addictive! I started grafting last month. Practicing on every thing! I grafted lime, kumquat, grapefruit, orange onto a lemon tree, grapefruit on lime tree, Wax apple onto rose apple seedling, atemoya and honeyheart onto Vietnamese cherymoya, Atemoya onto honeyheart cherymoya, red guava onto white guava, dragon fruit onto dragon fruit and a dozen or so Atemoya onto cherymoya seedling. Crossing my fingers andlooking forward to the next few month!

My African best reason so far. The fruit is sweet and juicy with great texture. The plant is on east side of the house and gets sun til noon to 1PM.

There's a nursery in Anaheim you can pick and buy fruits for pretty reasonable price. They actually provide the fruits to local fruit stands in OC. They have all sort Annona fruits, phet pakchong, AP, even sugar apple 
.

How about African Pride. I am in North San Diego County. My tree have been in ground for about three years. It has over 50 fruits this year. The fruits are chewy, sweet and so delicious this year.

My name is Lily. I love reading this forum, a wealth of information. For Christmas I wished for green thumbs and some Annona plants.
We moved from the IE to San Diego about three years ago. I have about 30 fruit trees around the house. Most of the three were purchased from HD ( the typical plants guava, figs, lime, plum, etc…), which I am regretting and planting to dig them all up. I have an African Pride Atemoya, soursop, lychee, longan and a wax apple plant purchased from ong's nursery three years ago. Two cherimoya purchased from Lowes last year. I also have some Thai lessard and Vietnamese sugar apple seedlings from eBay a year ago they are growing quite well outdoor. The only tree that produced well for me is the AP, it produced about 50 excellent fruits . Last year I Got 10 longan fruits and about five wax apple, 12 cherimoya fruit the size of a golf ball that tasted like ... non from other tropical plants. . I hope the master gardeners here can help me improve my gardening skill!
