Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: ODDS & SODS - PLANTS FOR SALE
« on: April 09, 2024, 04:28:26 PM »
Hello Kevin, I live in Kerala, India and I am in Spring, Texas, visiting my daughter. I will be returning to India on 27th May. I would like one Cedar Bay Cherry plant and one Garnet plant to take back to India. Will you be able to sell me those middle of May? Regards, Chandramohan.

Looks like a normal A.reticulata, which when ripe has a reddish blush on the top side.

In my opinion, it is G.mangustana.

I have over 45 Garcinia species, many over 6' tall and many in the ground. G. aristata are the slowest growing garcinia I have come across.

Definitly not Malay Apple, as the fruits are large, atleast 40 to 60 mm.

Definitely not Junglesop, as it has all the leaves growing on one side of the stem, until the plant begins to branch.

These are the first fruits on my Pitomba plant. Thanks to 'achetadomestica' for selling me the seeds. I find the fruits very nice and sweet when they are harvested when they are Orange in color. I am very happy for having got a nice fruit! I had tasted some Pitomba at Fairchild Botanical Gardens and had found the fruits to be mediocre. But the ones I tasted in 'Kampong', Fairchild's old home, were large and excellent.

How to know when the bean is ready to be plucked? Are there any external indicators? Thanks in advance.
