I'm curious as to whether anyone has been able to grow this tree (native to the Indian subcontinent) in southern Florida?
If so, how did you start it and where did you get the rootstock / seed / cutting?

There is a fruiting tree in 'Fruit and Spice' park. And wood apple is not Aegle Marmelos.

Noted. I usually refer to it by the Sanskrit name bilva or Hindi / Bangla bael. It seems that providing the Latin botanical name optionally with the cultivar is a good way to go. I think there is also a fruit grown in Sri Lanka called woodapple (Limonia acidissima?) which is different from bael.
I did find someone in Ft. Meyers on E-bay selling bael and many other seeds.
Thanks!

Wood apple/ Limonia acidissima is quite common in South India.
