Hi group! I re-did a Persimmons graft maybe a few weeks ago and had the pot in shade on a table. The little green bud was swelling and I was watching it every day, most excitedly. Well, mysteriously the bud was picked off likely by my kids or their friend that came over. I'm pretty devastated. Unfortunately since I already re-did the graft there isn't enough rootstock left to re-graft this year and I will have to let a new sucker grow.

My question is, is there any possibility the node will push a new bud? There are no other nodes on this graft. I got a bit into reading about axillary buds and that some plants have more than one bud per node, and others are "spent" after pushing green growth. I guess I wanted to confirm this is a total fail at this point.

Did anyone go? I made it down and it was my first time tasting Cherimoya. I should have known it would be a blind tasting. Padi registrations received boxes of fruit to take home, which we hand picked. I tried to get a veriety. I have no idea what is what though!! I would appreciate any help in trying to ID these. I have been trying to find old posts or old photos of the past tastings with fruit labeled to try and figure it out. I believe that our favorite tastings were El Bumpo and Oxheart, would love help from the Cherimoya gurus!! This tasting was fun as we had a tour of their orchard and got to pick Persimmons after. For those who regularly attend, they did say that due to timing of this event (which was the first in December) that they had some varieties that have no been offered at tastings in the past. Lastly, any advice on determing peak ripeness?

Looking for Cherimoya seeds. Hoping to grow rootstock for grafting later, if not letting a few go to fruit on their own.

Also would be interested in plants if available in CA.
