Ruby x Supreme Guava - mature width?
« on: April 30, 2013, 08:47:06 PM »
Does anyone know the mature width of this tree/plant?  Pine Island states that it is 5 feet, but pictures online make me think that it might be more like 8 feet.

I am trying to plan the spacing in my landscaping.

Thanks!

Brad

At my old house, mine was 8 to 10 feet wide at 3 years old.

Ruby supreme guava likes to spread but can be easily controlled by pruning.

Ruby X from Exotica Nursery 3 years old. 8' X5' wide pruned heavy....very good red guavas but not even close in taste to my Jalisco roja guava.

JF, is that an actual variety--Jalisco Roja?  I wonder how it would do in FL?  It would be worth a shot!  How do you start new guava trees?

John, yes thats what my friend who gave me the tree called it. cant answer how it would do in Florida but I'm willing to share cuttings in August or next year.

If I could keep it at 8' wide that would be excellent.  Does that sound realistic?
