Seems like same Ebay seller is back with Pakistani mango varieties

Is it still old scam or this time able to secure right budwood ?

Beware, there is no cultivar called Chuansa or Anwar Ratol in Pakistan. If he really know what he is doing, he will write the correct name of the cultivar. I mean there is three types of Chaunsa in Pakistan, Kala (black), Safuid(white) and SamarBashit Chaunsa. As for Anwar Ratol,it is the same story, it is not a single cultivar.

EvilFruit, what's the NPK of the food that mango is getting, what's your soil profile like including the pH?   Not a Mg issue.  Mg deficiencies only show on lower leaves as a pale yellow hue but can work its way to the mid level. It's a mineral transportation thingie regarding Mg.

Hi Mark,

This mango is supposed to be Ewais or Taimoor Mango from Egypt.

My soil is pure sand, desert sand. It is very poor in almost all elements that is essential for plant life. As for NPK, I use water soluble fertilizer (19-19-19+1MgO) that is injected to the irrigation line and granular Fertilizer (8-8-16). I also add Trace Elements powder every three weeks and I use potassium sulfate before the plant start flowering. I don't use the full recommended dosage by the manufacture, I use only 1/3 of recommended dosage and some organic fertilizer (manure, compost) when I have it.

I have never tasted my soil pH.

Here is the products I use.

http://www.adfert.com/product_item/granular_npk/8-8-16.html
http://www.adfert.com/product_item/ws_TE/combi1.html

I took a look at the photo of those leaves again. I don't see a real problem based on the mature leaves.  They are dark green with no chlorosis evident.  The new immature leaves show a very minor chlorosis but nothing I'd be concerned about.  I think you're doing a great job considering the challenges you have.

Thank you Mark.

We did get a lot of high 30s nights until last month and it was in ground without any protection. I am hoping it will start to grow since weather is warming up. I didn't see any mites, webs or any insects on the leaves so far.

Jujube are tough trees and they will grow back. Just make sure you don;t over fertilize it. Using something like fish emulsion or Kelp extract is a better option especially for young trees, imo.

You can add low dose of chelated trace Elements to your irrigation tank (I do it once every 3 weeks) and you should see better growth and higher resistance to diseases in general.

Thank you very much, Har.

Please Id the deficiency on the new growth, Is it Magnesium or Iron ?.

People around here use Ferula asafoetida gum and arabic gum mixed with hot water. They use this solution to paint the trunk of tree and it is usually used for Jujube. It works as an Insect repellent.

I personally never tried it, but i will try it once my jujube tree start flowering.

40
I use a water based paint with Copper oxychloride for my mangoes and other fruit trees.

Moh'd, why disappointment, because of the taste or the lack of flesh?

Felipe, the lack of flesh is the biggest disappointment, imo. The taste was sour, nothing special. There might be better specimen of Wild jackfruit in Kerala that contain higher edible percentage than the ones I have.   As Ajesh mentioned in his post mine could be from an inferior type.

Where did you get to try it?

I got them from The Jackfruit Festival (large supermarket)  :P. Every year we get a chance/event to try different types of fruits from all over the world. We have Jackfruit Festival, mango Festival, Thai Fruit Festival, Malaysian fruit Festival, etc.

https://www.facebook.com/clubfmuae/videos/rj-shruthy-live-from-jack-fruit-festival-at-lulu/2372850446280077/

Unfortunately, this year I did not see any cempedak but got a chance to try different types of jackfruit and the only type that got my attention was Thamara jackfruit aka Lotus jackfruit from Kerala. The fruit was a little bit overripe but I really really liked it.

42
I finally had a chance to eat Atrocarpus hirstus and it was a massive disappointment  :'(

The edible proportion is so thin, I mean like paper thin  :-X.

Edible part vs seed (squeezed)  :o

If I were you i will not use any type of fertilizer except for Seaweed extract and chelated elements, give your mango those fertilizer if you have them + copper fungicide spray.

I see, thanks.

The tree was completely without any leaf because it just came out of the shipping container from Thailand but was pushing a new growth. I know it is not wise to buy a leafless tropical tree.

Anyway, It was supposed to be Krystal-Rambutan or Krystal Longan aka Pometia pinnata but turned out to be a Durio species .

Hello

What is the minimum number of seeds we can order  ?.

49
Why don't you guys grow Pakistani Mango Cultivars ?. They should do much better than SE Asia or Indian cultivars (or their seedlings/selections), I mean both Lahore (the capital city of Pakistani Mangoes) and San Diego are almost in the same latitude.
