Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Mango Top working Suggestions
« on: May 01, 2020, 08:01:29 PM »
Funny. Other side of the city here and my NDM is also a topwork candidate this year. This is the 2nd year in a row that it set very few fruit (maybe a dozen) and, as of a few days ago, it dropped every single fruit (not little nublets but medium sized fruit). So we're going on 2-3 years of no fruit and we don't even like the flavor.

My NDM #4 is productive, but I have topworked it because I (like many others on the forum) am not a big fan of the flavor. Have Taralay, Orange Essence and Himasagar grafted onto the tree. Taralay is the most productive of the three, but I like OE in terms of flavor.

Taralay is one of my favorite mangoes...... Honey Kiss is a huge producer and fruit is top notch

First tree is 6-7 years old. Was severely trimmed following Irma.  Second tree is about 3.

If I could keep it around 12 feet I got room! Do you need a grafted tree or is one you pickup at the nursery good?

Johnb51 can you post a few pics of your trees so i can see how they look and if one would fit into my landscape

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Best September+ Mango besides Keitt?
« on: July 27, 2018, 08:48:59 AM »
I have found my Peach Cobbler to actually be slightly earlier than my Lemon Zest. I have no idea about Honey Kiss but would like to see any mango tree out yield my Keitt for I do not think it is possible. It may be a fungus magnet but for sheer yield and late ripening, I do not think it can be beat.

Honey Kiss will fruit itself to death.. the damn thing just drips with mangos

Lots of people eat mango skin. Pretty common among mango connoisseurs. Mango neophytes are generally averse to eating the skin though.

Till your dumb ass gets dermatitis and you then realize you cannot do it any more because your skin is cracking on the corner of your mouth and won't stop. I have seen so many stupid posts you make but this one may be tops for the dumb ass of the year award, which is a crowded field so congrats on the win. Gain some knowledge on this subject before you spew stupidity for others to see.
