Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Advice needed for white sapote
« on: June 25, 2020, 07:33:19 AM »
in Europe the only variety i can find easily is mcdill. Some spanish nurseries have Pike variety (but i dont think it is worth it) The amazing varieties they have in usa i have no clue how to get them here
Only hand in hand, otherwise the custom will seize the packet. I have a huge tree Pike variety

Do you have any seeldings or seeds available?
The season is October or November if the pollination goes well

First planting outside should be done in early spring and only when the tree is 2 years old, at least

Here in Greece they check almost every package outside of EU. If it is with live material (seeds, etc) you have to pay 50 or more Euros for inspection at the entry point plus some taxes for package prices over 25 Euros and they let it pass.
I am looking for some one within EU who can receive my seeds and forward to me, haha !!

What an amazing system the Lord created. Thanks for sharing
(Amen.)  There is an infinite intelligence (or Infinite Intelligence) behind and within creation.  The human brain can only scratch the surface.  How can we feel so confident in destroying what we don't understand?  (The forests, oceans, biodiversity, etc.)  A little gratefulness and humility would go a long way.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Sugarcane cuttings: How to handle?
« on: September 02, 2019, 02:50:39 AM »
You can get nearly 100% rooting by laying or standing them in water. Make sure the node is covered or close to being covered. We within a week you'll see swellings from below the node project outward and for roots. The node swells and forms a leaf growth structure soon afterwards. Once the roots have hardened and turned brown I plant in soil. Takes about 3 weeks. Make sure you change the water every day or 2.
I have seen some videos on youtube that confirm your method. The key is changing the water daily

Yes it's in the macropropagation manual. It needs to be done right after you take it from land not after 20 days when pests are already inside.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Rc4g-9Nnqg

In this video the time for treatment is 30sec and the water is boiling. 10sec seems very short to kill the pathogens

The best would be that the sender drops them into hot water at 55C for 10 seconds then dry them. Quite hard to find someone do this accurate without killing the corm ;D This is what I do.
A lot of pests are in soil in Thailand which are carried to the bulb, eventually they will infect your soil. The best method for free pathogen plants is tissue culture.
Is that method proven? I can do when i receive them or is not the right way
