I've cleaned my (ns1 today) Jackfruit & removed the seeds & rag from the yellow sweet part typically eaten.

Now the rag remains and I decided to try eating it also. The first choice since I like french fries is fried rag in oil for about 8 minutes. Canola oil was used today but vegetable etc. should be fine. Also added my salt....

The result was delicious delicious mildly sweet "french fries".  :P  IMO sweeter & better than "Onion Rings or French Fries"

Sooo, try to eat it all.... or at least the Rag.... lol

Try it, You'll Like It....

Sounds good PC, thanks for posting.  I'll have to give it a try.  Just curious, did you deep fry them like french fries or pan fry like hash browns?

Answer: Pan fry like hash browns...

Really delicious.... Barely covered cut off rag strings in your favorite oil in a pot uncovered cooked until light brown on medium-high heat my stove for about 5 to 7 minutes.... Seriously good....(just imagine eating a raw potato vs. eating the rag raw as the rag is much much better tasting than a raw potato). I used a sharp knife to slice off the rag strings from the rind....

One person on line used flour & soaking etc. etc. etc.... Totally Not needed... Nothing but oil rag & heat and they turned out golden & great.... Of course I added salt when cooked as no B.P. problems... Very very sweet dish & I really liked it better than even cooked sweet onions...
