Mango Margarita
« on: July 20, 2012, 11:54:53 PM »
Anyone got a good from scratch Mango Margarita recipe? One that doesn't use a pre packaged mix?

Thanks,

Ed

quite simple, and any variance from this is straying off from a classic mango margarita.

1/4 of a medium mango, chopped
1 cup of ice
3 ounces blanco/silver tequila
1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
1 ounce simple syrup or agave nectar
1/4 ounce Cointreau (or other "orange-flavored liqueur", such as Grand Marnier, etc.)
OPTIONAL: for garnish: rub a lime wedge around the rim and dip into Tejin or other quality chile powder and fresh mango cubes

Using the same ingredients above, there are two methods of making the drink:
1. Combine mango, ice, tequila, lime juice, simple syrup/agave nectar and Cointreau in a blender and blend till smooth; pour into glass and serve.
2. Muddle the mango in a cocktail shaker, add ice, tequila, lime juice, simple syrup/agave nectar and Cointreau and shake vigorously; strain into glass and serve.
