SoCal mango flowering and fruit update
« on: March 29, 2019, 10:25:14 PM »
Here are some pictures of blooming mango trees from my friends yard in SoCal.

Sweet Tart on Manilla rootstock

Sweet Tart on Florida rootstock. The white strings in the picture are used to hold the branches upright to prevent droopiness

Nice! Cool.  My only 🥭 tree, VP, is flowering like crazy too. Looks like you have a big yard. How big is your yard?

Very nice, here are a couple of pictures of my Carrie I took a few days ago. It is on turpentine and planted in ground September 2018 from a 15 gallon purchased from Champa. Rest of my trees planted in September of last year are flowering as well. All on turpentine.

Mugenia,

These trees are not from my yard, they are from my friends yard. Trees are growing in SoCal and my friend takes really good care of his trees.

Your trees are still blooming?  Mine is already full off fruits!

Just kidding!  Not my tree.  This is a 50 year old tree on Paul Thomsons old property.  Another member here sent me this pic last mango season while touring the property.

My mango Trees are Blooming and are recovering from an unusually cold February. At my location in SoCal, we received about 325 hours of chill.  My low chill stone fruit trees are blooming very good.

The first photo is my Dot Mango Tree on Turpentine blooming. The Nam Doc Mai #4 and Sweet tart Mango Trees are on Manila Root-Stock are in the early state of blooming.

Here’s my lemon zest and maha on manilla rootstock.  It’s recovered well after the cold winter.

Lancetilla first year flowering. I think I may have pruned it back a bit much last year for a more open canopy. Hoping to get some growth flushes after flowering

Gozp, you have a great line up. Are you going to eventually get all of those into the ground?

Yes, my Mangos are blooming as well. First two blooms on Lemon Zest completely dried up with no fruit set but that is typical for my LZ, it’s the third bloom that usually sets a small amount of fruit. I’ll update with some pictures later.

Sweet Tart on double rootstock

Lemon Zest on Florida Turpentine

CAC on Kent rootstock. Several branches got snapped in the storm but it’s got buds all over the trunk and larger branches

glad its looking well after winter though!

im definitely having issue with my small Keitt continualy flowering and not growing. Going to start some seedlings this year and graft when they reach a decent size to prevent this.  Guess there's not short cuts without spending a grip of money pn a box size tree
