Title: Today, I've put my ichangensis IVIA in the ground.

Let's hope it is as hardy as they say.

It's been very late this year, flowers are only appearing now and it barely put on any growth. That's why I thought it would be better off in the ground.

Most literature claim the Inchangensis is hardy to 0-F (-18C)

It is certainly very hardy when fully resting.
The problem is that its threshold temperature for vegetation start is less than that for poncirus and its hybrids.
In climates with large  winter temperature variations it is damaged even before citranges.

Be assured that this information is good for those who are interested in this.

And at what temperature is that threshold more or less? But I don't think that will be much of a problem here.

I lost Ichangensis from B.Voss several years ago when winter was mild, followed by one night  of  -6C  in the beginning of April.
Another ichangensis (SRA241) in open ground, without protection; had some branch damage last two winters.
You should probably plant it in a shadow to minimize temperature fluctuations.

I suppose it was grafted on PT? Bernhards "super hardy" Ichang was the first to die surrounded by Ichan-seedlings that all survived on their own roots... My C. ichangensis IVIA survived last winter without branch-damages   when even one of my PT died from bark cracks. It lost 50% of its leaves -no problem.

Yes,  they were grafted on poncirus.  Which IVIA variety do you have - IVIA358 or IVIA235?
Below is a flower of IVIA358

Ilya, can you tell from these pictures which one mine is?

In IVIA's description of 235 it says that new growth is only lightly purple whereas mine is intensely purple. Am I correct in assuming mine is 358?

IVIA235

I suspect IVIA358 is the better one. It looks like mine.

@Florian is yours flowering right now?

IVIA says about 235: "El árbol es de tamaño mediano, porte abierto, compacto y prácticamente sin espinas." Without spines! Mine is full of spines! And they write about an elipsoid: el fruto .... tiene forma elipsoidal. The question is what kind of elipsoid?

I grow a similar plant. I suppose it is C. ichangensis. It bears a few spines and is almost thornless. With these glossy, broad winged leaves, and the purple new growth, it is the most ornamental citrus plant, I know.

The plant has altogether 16 thorns. Only some shoots produce them. Most are smaller than this one.

Like last year, the flowers of my plant did not develop further, as shown on the picture. Ilya, can you conform its identity, even without an open flower?

I believe your plant is IVIA358

Robert,
Fruit of my IVIA358 as of today:

The IVIA survived its first winter fine but it does not look too happy. However, it started to look like this last year already, so this does not seem to be a winter problem.

I was a bit surprised by the differences between the two backup plants I grafted last year. The left one is already flowering. They are on identical rootstocks in identical substrate.
