Bon Bon is Vietnamese for lanzones. The sour version of that fruit is called the Burmese grape or giâu gia đất in Vietnamese. I doubt there's any of that fruits in OC. I didn't see anything there before I left home for land of flowing methane with majestic high rises.
Not meant to high jack the thread, I collected a bunch of Arabic watermelon seeds, date seeds of all kinds and other fruits and vegetables when I was in southern Iraq. When I returned home, we flown on a white airplane chatered by the Fed. They confiscated anything that was deemed cultural sensative. Their watermelon is the best and crispy. I love dates. I will check Carrefour for exotic fruits and plamts.

I just moved to Southern California. So I didn't have much time to plant anything due to my constant travel between here and Georgia. However, I did manage to plant some onions, malanga and taro, tomatoes, ginger, galangal, tumeric, and herbs of all kinds.
Then, there's my fruit tree orchard. So far, I have guava, apples, Korean pear, citrus of all kind, dragon fruit, longan, persimmon, jackfruit, atemoya, red custard apple, sapote, sapodilla, jambu apple, jaboticaba, banana, avocado, etc. I am not even done with my orchard. I still have a lot of land for sugarcane and banana grove and other tropical vegetables and fruits. I have 0.35 acre. If I need more land, I can plant more on my folks' property. They have about 3 acres.
Once I return from Qatar, I will continue to plant the rest of trees or land. Here's a picture of my lower 1/3 of my property. So far, I have two rows of tropical fruit trees on drip irrigation. Throwing some chickens and ducks in the back there, I will be self-sustaining.

From what I heard from a nursery owner in Southern California, na dai won't survive there. He said he's selling them because there's a big demand for them here. But he won't recommend them to me.
Can suga apple such as na Dao or big red grow in Southern California without grafting on a root stoke? Can they survive Southern California winter?

How about these folks? Prior to moving to California, I was studying and researching the Phoenix area and its tropical fruit tree scene. I stumbled into Phoenix Tropicals' website. These guys look good. Looks like Phoenix is limited in term of what you can grow.

How about Jack Mace? He grows all of tropical fruit trees in Phoenix. I agree with a lot of what he says except his plant mineral sauce. Seriously, there's no other organic fertilizer that can beat chicken poop manure. Me and my folks' soil is prepared with a lot of compost, wood chips, and chicken poop. We always have bountiful harvest of fruits and vegetables.

Man, my family and I used to farm cattle for a living. The demands for proteins are high especially from China and other growing Asian economies. I wish I hadn't left the business. I am semi-retired in California now. I do miss the wide open spaces of the American frontier land.

I think you could get by with 2 plants on each end. If you decided not to have passion fruits anymore, they could be a pain to clean up though.

I have been to Thailand numerous times for both work and play. The best time for fresh fruit is end of May early June. Lynchee, Mango, Mangosteen, Rambutan, Logan.
