Oh, good to know, I will watch my Oliver and Sherry for the red blush.

127
Not a cross that I know of. My large Big Jim tree that this branch is grafted on has 90 varieties of loquats only and none of the other fruits has this much red blush, maybe a few dots once in a while but nothing like this branch of fruits.

You can use HLB resistant rootstock and then graft the other lemons you like.

US812, US897, US942 are all good rootstock.

No strong resistance to HLB, better tasting than Meyer, but Meyer is not a true lemon so not a fair comparison.

Do you have any other citrus growing well in ground?

If you do, then just graft the Meyer lemon to the tree that is doing well.

Brian, that's a new one, never heard anyone have that issue with one fruit.

Wow, that is impressive for an one year old grafted sumo to have large fruits already, nice.

I had 13 large fruits after 2 years. It was so heavy the branch cracked, but I save the branch with a brace and it is still doing well.

Here in the US, we have two seedless lemons, the Seedless Lisbon and Seedless Eureka. Both are very good tasting.

We can't get the Onix orange, looks neat, but we can get the Amoa 8 Tangor which is a darker flesh red color.

Here's my first ripe loquats in SoCal:

This one branch is grafted, but lost the tag so not really sure which of my 90 varieties it is on the multi-grafted Big Jim tree. The fruits are different since it has a nice red blush on the skin as you can see. None of my other ones has this.

Just took some brix reading, pretty consistent, brix =17.
Flesh is white, tastes very good/excellent.

To follow up on my comments above, here's how large my 1 year old seedling Younghan's Gold plants are now. These seeds were planted on 1/13/23.

The Campbell white sapote from Julian is fairly priced at $45 plus shipping. I have purchased 2 plants, one last year and second one on 3/6/24. The grafted tree is old enough to ship, looks to me the graft is maybe 9 months to 1 year old. The graft union is healed so there is nothing wrong with the trees he is selling and shipping out.

Maybe this variety could be a slow grower or depending on the seedling rootstock it grows a little slower than other white sapotes. I germinate a lot of seedling white sapotes plants and they don't grow much the first year, by the second year it will be much better size.

Here's the photos I said I would take of my two plants purchased from Lara farms.

If the molted branch is the lower one in your photo, then you might want to cut it before it returns to all green. I had a similar branch on my variegated sumo and it turn back to green, ended up cutting it off. Now the tree is all variegated again.

I heard Angellino was suppose to be really sweet and good tasting. I hope my fruits tastes sweeter.

Where did you find the Turkey loquat? Sounds like a winner, is it your seedling tree?

Yup. my other loquats are still green or no large size fruits yet. I have a few Big Jim fruit pinnacles that show a few fuirts with yellow now.

oh, good. Yes, I do notice the red blush in on the side of the fruit that gets the sun directly.

I don't see this on none of my other loquat fruits, it may also be the time of the year it ripens. This one seems to be one of my earliest to start ripening and it also is one with a lot of fruits on the cluster of fruits.

I think is it just one of those fruits, like the red blush guava, some do have it, just a little more rare to see maybe?

I can respond to your question about cutting the green branches to let the variegated branches grow more. Yes, you want to cut off any of the non-variegated branches if your tree is strong enough with just the variegated branches. If your tree is still too small, you may want to wait until the variegated branches have established.

I have a large, variegated Valencia orange tree which is over 30 years old, plenty of variegated branches, tons of variegated fruits each year. I deliberately leave a few green branches so that I can still get both types of fruits. There is a difference with the Valencia orange. The normal green branches have nice size fruits about the size of navel oranges. The variegated Valencia branches (95% of the tree) will have smaller stripped green/yellow fruits that turns yellow when ripe. These variegated fruits are 2/3 the size of the normal fruits and is not as sweet.
