Soursop leaves problem
« on: February 08, 2017, 09:44:56 PM »

Hi guys,

I bought this a week ago. The nursery told me not to plant this until March when the weather is warmer.  They told me to leave this in the shade until then to avoid the frost at night.  I left it in the garage the last couple of days but left it outside last night.  This morning, I notice a few yellow leaves.  Is it because I left it outside last night or from leaving it in the garage with my cars?  What should I do guys? 1. Outside 2. In the garage or 3. In my patio? Thanks

How cold has it gotten lately? My soursop look like hell this time of year, and once it warms up and stays warm they flush out and look better.

Yes rob.  But I didn't see the yellow dry leaves till today when I move in back in the garage from last night exposure. To think of it, weather in San Diego in the low is around 45 degree.  It shouldn't be that bad.  The closed garage with two cars inside could've let out carbon monoxide.

Soursops are pushing the ultra tropical category.  They don't like 40s!  30s is pretty much guaranteed defoliation.  West Coast, you have huge daily temperature swings.  I don't think I'd plant one there, unless in a greenhouse.  For soursops molting is not a good thing, not like cherimoyas.

Problem might be  COLD TEMPERATURES,  WET FEET, POOR DAYTIME ENLIGHTMENT or a combination of them.
For sure not the exhaust of your cars, plants actuallly use carbon dioxyde for photosynthesis....

I let it out in the yard for sunlight every morning and move it back in the garage around 7pm to avoid the night temperature.

Based on what I'm hearing, my soursop should be fine for now. Thank you guys.

Cold wind  around 42-43 degrees can be worse for Soursops than a calm freeze.
