Apple rust clarifications

I have some questions regarding apple ceder rust.

1.Assuming that chopping down the ceders is impossible, non optimal,or dangerous and excluding getting rust resistant varieties, what are good counter measures against rust?

2.Assuming the rusted apple tree survives winter, will the rust carry over next spring or does it need to be reinfected?

Look up cedar Apple rust. The disease is a relationship between the two trees. The organism forms a gall on the cedar which doesn’t hurt the cedar, but the spores from the cedar gall spread to the apple leaves and fruit and are detrimental to the apple tree. I would get rid of the useless cedar. I don’t plant anything in the cedar family because I love apple trees and have a lot of them. To break the chain of infection, the cedar has to go.

My mayhaws get what looks like cedar apple rust. I don't have any cedars anywhere within at least a mile that I've seen. I have another Hawthorne and Apple trees. Could they pass it between them? Thanks, Dan
