Branch Damage
« on: February 08, 2016, 08:51:48 PM »
So I finaly got around to making a barrier against the lawn for my new Lemon Zest, but I noticed some damage in of the new branches while doing it. My question is will this branch survive and do well as one of the main branches or should I get rid of it? Is one of three branches coming out around 24 inches. The leaves and the bud seems to be doing fine.

The tree is topped around 36," Should I cut all 3 branches since they are so low anyways? Im uncertain of what to do...

Thank you

The branch will likely be fine. I would leave the tree alone and let it grow.

Agreed.   There are too many worries about their trees, whether msngoes or otherwise,  of them being perfect specimens.  Don't worry about them being perfect and don't worry about the imperfections.   Mangoes are extremely hardy and resilient. The commonly heal ththemselves and even if one branch has a problem,  in a few years you will never know it.

There is nothing wrong with monitoring your trees but bottom line, provide them with water, fertilizer and control pests only when truly needed and your tree will be happy and healthy and in a few years, reward you.

That's a very nice barrier, how did you remove the grass to make that circle?

Thanks guys.

I placed the stone circle down on top of the grass. Then I sticked a shovel all around, cutting the roots and all. Then removed the stones and ripped the grass off. I burried the stones about an inch into ground level.
