The Mamey sapote seed, sold at the following sites.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-GIANT-MAMEY-SAPOTE-SEEDS-RARE-EXOTIC-ORGANIC-Pouteria-sapota-zapote-/331188214473?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d1c5b1ac9

http://store03.prostores.com/servlet/especiestropicalseeds/the-591/Pouteria-sapota--dsh--/Detail
I got Mamey seeds from the above ebay seller but they were not packed in.medium or anything just loose in a tied of sandwich bag. All rattled inside the shell when I shook them and nome germinated:(
Anyone have a better experience with them?

Yes I would have expected them to be in moist medium like many tropical seeds have been sent to me.

How true to type are Mamey's from seed?

Is there a big variation?

I can supply Mamey seeds ($5 each) most of the year. Pulled right from the fruit just before packing (into moist media (usually cocopeat). I also ship the fruits whole (w/ seed obviously), but in the winter have to import the fruits from SA where they're often frozen (typically ruining the seeds). A lot of the time the seeds are bursting open upon opening the fruit. They're very large sometimes huge, always heavy as far as seeds go.
