How can I tell when to harvest my Granadilla fruit?
« on: November 01, 2017, 10:14:36 AM »
Hi folks

I have been away for the last six months and I came back to find my Granadilla was fruiting for the first time. ;D

My questions are two.

When do I harvest it.

What is the best way to eat it?

Thank you everyone!

It'll turn a lighter color and the surface will get soft when ripe
I just cut open and spoon it out
My all time favorite passion-fruit variety
Also eaten as vegetable when still firm-Makes a great addition to soup and stew

I'm talking about Passiflora edulis and passiflora flavicarpa.
I wait them to fall to the ground then i harvest them, i cool them in ref and i scoop with a spoon.
wrinkled fruits are the best.
DELICIOUS when mixed with papaya  :P

Thank you both for your ideas. I will wait a bit before harvesting this one then.

Yours is giant granadilla.  The fruit will gain 2lbs to 3lbs.  The skin will change to light orange color.  You pick it when it gets soft.
