Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Can Maha Chanok Be Grown In A Pot?
« on: February 07, 2019, 10:32:02 AM »
fliptop,

I use Fafard 3B mix and I usually add a few worm castings, Azomite, and a handful of perlite to the mix. This tree was purchased as a 25 gal. and was stepped up the next year to a 45 gal., it has been in that pot for over 2 years. I would estimate that the tree is probably  4 to 5 years old.

Mugenia,

I move all my potted trees with a hand truck.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Seeking info on M-4 mango

I purchased these M-4 mangoes from Zill's last week. I also have an M-4 mango tree that I purchased last year that is now growing in a 7-gallon nursery pot. So far, I haven't had any issues with the tree and I definitely do enjoy the eating the fruit.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: When to pick Mallika mango?
« on: July 01, 2018, 11:29:43 AM »
In the first picture are nine Mallika mangoes that I picked green with a slight shade of yellow, I then wrapped them in paper bags, placed them in a basket and set them on a shelve in a closet for 10 days. I probably should have checked them before the 10 days as a few were ready a few days before.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Critters Eating Mangoes
« on: May 27, 2018, 02:10:40 PM »
Can anyone give there opinion of what critter is eating my Maha Chanok mangoes on my tree? So far I’ve lost 3 fruit in the last four days, whatever it is they eat almost half of the fruit in one sitting. I’m thinking that it’s got to be larger than rats or squirrels since in the past they would eat a little section of the fruit at a time not over half of the fruit. Last year I used mesh bags with pretty good results. Any advise would be appreciated.
