Any idea what's going on with this avocado?
« on: January 12, 2014, 12:22:52 PM »
I planted this at my parents house last spring. Seemed to do fine for most of the summer but recently this one and another in their yard started looking like this.

Just rain water. This one which is planted in a lower area and the other which is planted on raised bed are both showing the same problem. Both look to be getting ready to bloom.

Not sure why it happens, but many avocados that I have seen have developed these browned leaves.  The leaves drop in winter just before the late winter/spring bloom push begins.  New foliage come in immediately after the flowering.....sometimes at the same time. At this point, I would not be concerned.

Avocados are evergreen in tropical areas, but may be semi-deciduous in cooler zones.
