Thank you, that sounds great! But I am still unsure how it is with shipping seeds from countries outside of the EU into the EU. It seems that if the seeds do not have phyto certificate, they will be sent back?I had big problems importing seeds outside EU
Can one make 10 with 3 seeds each of two varieties and balance 4 from other varietySame here
Thank you for the valuable infosI have 2 df varieties labeled as George and Oung Ong. I can't find any information about them
That's likely George from the late George Emerich who was a prominent CRFG member. It's a white flesh variety, very sweet, but not a Vietnamese variety. I believe it is neither self fertile nor self compatible.
As for Quang Ong variety, it may be QOSF, also known as Quang Ong Self Fertile, which was later renamed as American Beauty. Magenta flesh, self fertile and self pollinating. However, he grows a lot of different varieties.
Hope this helps.
Actually no, those fruits I found in one grocery store ,which has them only this time of the year. Havent seen mameys in other stores anywhere in Bulgaria , I bought five fruits and have 6 seeds to experiment with.15 min max. soaking in 3% hydrogen peroxide You can find it in pharmacies. Lucky you can find such a kind of fruits there. Here i never have seen them in grocery stores
Is this 15 minutes or seconds for the hydrogen peroxide ?
Right now i'm soaking them in water for 2-3 days ,pryor planting .
By George Im guessing they mean George's White. Said to be sweeter than the standard Vietnamese white variety but it does require cross pollination with ankther variety to set fruit. Fruit is around a pound to 1.5lbs. For me it is a slow grower but thats onky my experience. Thanks for the info
Its always difficult with no flowers or fruit and no supporting information. I will take a wild stab and say tamarillo. Not flowered yet. It seems to originate from Solanaceae family, so your opinion must be right Mike. It is my first plant from this family except tomatoes plants
I have fresh seeds of gin berry, fruits were harvested from my tree. They produce a lot of fruits even though they are grown in a pot (I live in zone 6 and I have a good amount of fruits). The flavor is tasty, sweet, aromatic, and spicy.Hi
Price is 3€ per 4 seeds and postage fees are 2 € (or 4,5 with tracking number). I keep them in moist coco coir so the germination rate should be 100 %.
Mike, in case i manage to travel back home in Fall, I could try to send you scions, so that you can graft. If it does not get very cold in you area, then grafting at this time of the year should not be a problem...You are a good knower of the habits of the cultivar. Last year was the second season with fruits of my tree. The tree had hundreds of them, small ones without seeds. Only 4-5 as i remember were full size and with seeds. Do you suggest to thin out or it is a lack of pollination that behaviour? About scions depends on weather Let see, keep in contact
I consider Pike a nice tasting one, cero bitterness, but it has two drawbacks from my experince: I have to thin out the fruit, or otherwise I will get hundreds of small fruit (like plum), which are hard to enjoy, instead of apple-big fruit. Also when you pick the fruit, it gets soft very fast, so no chance for commertial pourposes. But as a backyard tree, I can recommend it.
The season is October or November if the pollination goes wellin Europe the only variety i can find easily is mcdill. Some spanish nurseries have Pike variety (but i dont think it is worth it) The amazing varieties they have in usa i have no clue how to get them hereOnly hand in hand, otherwise the custom will seize the packet. I have a huge tree Pike variety
Do you have any seeldings or seeds available?
