Ecuador Giant Yellow Dragonfruit in Australia
« on: March 17, 2019, 06:49:44 AM »
Hi Fruiters.

Is anyone in Australia growing the genuine Ecuador giant Yellow Dragonfruit in Australia?

A genuine one grown from imported cuttings or a seedling grown one that is proven to have the giant sized fruits. Often when grown from seed they revert back to having small size fruits similar to the regular spiny yellow DF

So far I've seen The small spiny yellow Dragonfruits in Aus which taste great but are small and the large size thornless yellow dragons which taste bland.

If anyone has any leads it would be appreciated :)

Cheers!

Yes I believe I have a couple, still too small to fruit yet though. Get in touch with Stevo (Steve T) on this forum he may have some

Hi Canvo
Thanks for your reply.
Do you know if your ones are from seed or cuttings from a proven plant with the real giant sized fruits?
The results are meant to be quite variable from seed.
Cheers!

These are from a mature cutting that originally came from seed directly from Ecuador. At the risk of getting something incorrect (hate speaking for someone else) i believe Steve sampled the fruit and described it as very sweet, tasted like lemonade. This is probably as close as we can expect to get here in Aus, Hope this helps
