Hello
If you are to grow 4 different varieties of self-fertile and self-pollinating dragon fruits in the same container, which 4 would you recommend in terms of production and flavor ?
Thank you

Condor
American Beauty
Sugar Dragon

For sure yellow dragon fruit!

I tasted a store bought Giant Yellow Ecuador. Didn't really like it. Found it too sweet and flavorless. Maybe it was a bad one...

Do you think I can grow 4 different varieties in a big container? What would be the fourth one? Would they fruit without hand-pollination?

American Beauty (great taste, fair production so far)
Dark Star (great taste, poor production so far)
Yellow/ white flesh
s8

Who knows, maybe we just have very different preferences with dragon fruit. For example any other dragonfruit aside from the yellow is basically tasteless and not worth growing for me.

You are right. Taste is personal preference. Thank you for the recommendation.

Do you have these for sale? Do you have Condor too?

Onur why do they need to come from FL? I have all these dragonfruit and can send them in the mail 2 day priority no problem.
-
Agreed. DF travels well.
If you are down my way (So. Miami), can hook you up with nice sized and well-rooted Dark Star plants.

I only have DS plants that would currently sell, but they are too big to ship.

Thank you Brad.
I just thought I could go and pick them up rather than getting them shipped, so I can get longer cuttings. Two years ago, I sold my collection for almost free, now I am struggling to find few cuttings.
Brad, may I also have your opinion on 4 best dragon varieties in terms of production and flavor?
Can you send me long cuttings?

Thank you Rob. I will stop by if I am down your way.

You got pretty good suggestions on the dragonfruit varieties.
But I dont know how those do in florida but they produce well here. My trees are loaded with s8, condors, dark stars. Paloras its yet to see how they do in CA, havent seen anyone grow them but maybe theres a few out here.
Honestly you dont need huge pieces, it really makes little difference if you get a 1ft piece or 2ft piece. Its going to grow. I usually just start them from 6-8" pieces. If its hot there, they are going to grow fast either way. When I sell to others its usually 12"to 18" just because people think they need big pieces.
You can send a private message if you want to buy cuttings.
