Hi, I added some sugar to one of the lutescens or hibrid uvaias and let it rest for a while, then, it tasted like passionfruit+tangerine! so cool!

I was missing this tone in the taste: now I am 100% sure they taste like a soft passionfruit+tangerine, and the smell is very similar to caramel or "dulce de leche".

I have 5 rough skined red leaves uvaia seeds now for sale. PM me if you want them.

I labeled the uvaias like this:

uvaia rough (red new leaves, rough skin, maybe hybrid)

All of them have characteristics of both e. pyriformis and e. lutescens

Hi, I am waiting for the rest of the e. repandas to ripe to send the next mails (1 to 2 weeks). I have 30 or more arazá-una (black strawberry guava, psidium eugeniaefolia) seeds left: keep in mind that this is one of the best fruits I ever tasted, 16º Brix, and I have many guabiju seeds left, it is 24º Brix, very sweet.

For now, I will add a very rare myrtaceae, myrcia selloi to available species:

(https://s3.postimg.org/wa2p4la5r/myrcia_selloi_flower_buds_botones_florales_20140.jpg) (https://postimg.org/image/wa2p4la5r/)

(https://s3.postimg.org/u6s9wxacv/36_Myrcia_selloi.jpg) (https://postimg.org/image/u6s9wxacv/)

5 seeds (USD 10), 10 seeds (USD 18), 20 seeds (USD 34)

Small tree 2-3 m, very straight brown trunk and twisted branches. Leaves are dark green, bright and very small (ca. 1.0-1.5 cm). Tree top low and dense, wider than high. Flowering is extremely abundant, covering the small fragrant flowers plant. The fruits are small (0.5-0.8 cm), red-scarlet and remember the flavor of Surinam cherries (Eugenia uniflora), but it is a very strange taste: very sweet, spicy and bitter. I think it even could be nice in salads, can go well in salty preparations too. Not a fruit for kids.

Uses: Of great ornamental value, is the beautiful aspect of this small tree, as the exuberance of flowering and fruiting. Excellent apicultural plant. Very attractive for birds. It goes very well as potted plant, better still in bonsai.

Cultivation: Well drained soils, full sun and tropical and subtropical climates. It grows faster when well fertilized.

Frost resistance: -6º C or so. I will measeure ºBrix as soon as the first fruits turn fully black,

Thanks for reporting. some other mails will take 30 days to be there.

Please keep in mind that guaviyú loves water but, when just sprouting, you must not overwater them.

Received my Guaviyu and Araza seeds yesterday. Package arrived in great shape
and about 1/2 of the seeds had already begun to sprout.

Well done Marcos!

Very thanks for reporting, Michael. Try to grow them in the shade for 1 year or so, guaiviyú needs more shade than araza-una in the start. You can think of guaviyú as an eugenia uniflora in the matter of cultural needs, but it is more cold tolerant.

They are both very tasty species.

This week I will be able to send many more mails with seeds because other sete capotes fell ripe:

The taste is different to any myrtaceae I know, while uvaias could remind to jaboticaba or arazá-una remember me to strawberry guava, tropical guava and jaboticaba, sete capotes is different to all of them... to imagine the flavour, maybe you sould think about a mix of apples+oranges.

Yes, the skin is not bad, near the skin the pulp is sweeter.

It will fruit in a pot, as it can do it from 2 feet tall. (all the species I am offering will fruit in a pot)

both are very tasty fruits, but I am loving sete capotes more than ever, it is a very tasty fruit and I can imagine how good it would be chamba (c. lineatifolia) in a few years when fruiting! as people says chamba is the best of campomanesias

Tomorrow I should send the mails

Hi, it could be a bit less if the mail is light weighted, for instance seeds that can travel dry, sete capotes, arazá-una. strawberry guava and araticú could do it.

In any doubt, please ask me, thanks

I am adding lemon guava, I have 2 varieties, one of them from a nursery at Argentina, lemon flavour mixed with araçá-una and peach (I would say), 18º Brix, http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=9116.25 (http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=9116.25) , very small seeds, you almost cant notice them.

and the other from seeds from Portugal (Steven Da Silva), flavour is similar to strawberry guava, different from the other. http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=3117.msg247313#msg247313 (http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=3117.msg247313#msg247313)

I love both of them.

Yellow lemon guava (psidium cattleianum var lucidum) (New, march 2017)
20 seeds (USD 4)
40 seeds (USD 7)
80 seeds (USD 12)
160 seeds (USD 22)

Hello, for those who wonder about the frucrification period of the e. Repanda, I commented that this year I am following closely, since we have a total of approximately 25 plants planted in different places: field, weekend house, in the sidewalk of the city, in my garden and in pots.

There are some of them that have well-ripened black fruits here in March, late summer, and are about to bloom again (perhaps because of a reaction to dryness and then to rain), then those plants will bear fruit in 2 months, as late as May In the middle of autumn. So that the fruiting extends between January and May, maybe 5 or 6 months if you have several plants in your garden. Some of them are more dark red than black.

Fot those who received the seeds or are waiting: grow them in the shade, no sun for now till they are taller than 30cm (1 feet) or so. Psidium can take more sun, but be patient and dont burn them. Eugenia repanda, guaviyu, anacahuita, myrcia, sete capotes can take half shade in 1 or 2 years and then full sun when bigger; araticu, natal plum, pisidiums can take more sun when younger.

I tasted a ripe jilo, red colour, not green as they consume it at Brazil, I boiled it for 15 minutes. The taste was very good, comparable to a mix between sweet potato and potato, not too bitter, just fine. I liked it more than any eggplant.

Today I was eating one of the late sete capotes of this season and I found a very jaboticaba like flavour! so this was the known flavour that I was missing on it, and near the skin it is similar to guaviyú, it has of course that myrtaceae flavours you can feel at strawberry guava and other fruits from this family.

One of my 2 bearing sete capotes plants stopped fruiting (60cm tall) but the other (3m tall) is still flowering and fruiting, so the season may extend for 3 months or more.

Adding psidium australe

Hi, this one was a surprise: I thought it would ripe later, but yesterday I found a fruit in the floor, so it was ripe and very good taste, maybe a mix of guava and strawberry guava, very good, no worms.

Frost resistance: -5º C or more. Hardy to drought too, but it prefers good watering.

Adding: Angola guava

Many guavas measure 7º to 10º Brix (http://www.santosfood.nl/?action=viewArt&cid=425&aid=146&lid=2 (http://www.santosfood.nl/?action=viewArt&cid=425&aid=146&lid=2)), but this one is 13º Brix. The man who gave me the seeds 3 years ago told me it was the best he had (and he grows 10 varieties)

Angola guava (psidium guajava) (New, march 2017)
20 seeds (USD 8 )
40 seeds (USD 15)
80 seeds (USD 28)

It is more sweet than acid, but it has a nice acid touch, better than my paraguayan guavas and similar to the white asian guava, but with more seeds.

Hi, just for the record: psidium eugeniaefolia is bearing fruits again, it produced 2 batches of fruits, one in the middle of the summer, and other in the beginning of the autumn. Eugenia repanda is doing so too, sete capotes floweres till some days ago, and mycia selloi is still bearing, it also has green fruits on it.

Yes i had similar experience. The seeds did finally show up. Just took almost a month to get here. But they were all still in good shape, with the ones in moistened moss starting to germinate.
