Black tips, and bits of yellowing, also the soil is too alkaline, plan on putting rigorous compost with humic acid to break down and acidify soil

That's a fine looking mangosteen! Say, hat type of soil did you use for it and what kind of pot is that?

Just to revive this thread from the archives, it still is in transplant shock, but it doesnt seem to be progressing any worse. I have been watering with a combination of fish emulsion, kelp fertilizer, molasses and wetting agent to help the roots grow, anyways, here are a few pics and give some
critique on whati should do to further improve its conditions.

also proof it still alive

HOLY CRAAAAAP!! This Stuff works like magic! You might as well throw away everything you know about soil because the owner of the nursery has it all figured out. When I first bought my trees, they were on a slow decline, lychees got really bad leaf burn, mango slowly dying of root rot, etc. But then I switched to this soil because the guy explained how commercial potting soil/planting mix actually harms the tree rather than helping it. The mix is made of sand, pumice, charcoal, and perlite. When I switched half the old soil to the lychee, it immediately dropped the bad leaves and went into a giant growth spurt, without any of the classic californian lychee leaf burn, then I switched my Pickering Mango tree to that stuff, and it went into a nice growth flush ON A TURPENTINE ROOTSTOCK. All my plants except the barerooted ones show extreme improvement in tree health. I am not trying to promote his stuff, but rather im giving my review on the soil.  Make sure u guys dont bareroot any trees cause that'll kill em. make sure you get down to the main rootball, then stop.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re:Cacao Tree still in transplant shock
« on: December 03, 2016, 12:44:02 PM »
Oh dont worry, once it recovers, i plan on planting it between a bunch of trees in order to create an artificial rainforest climate, the larger trees keep in shade and humidity, while it blocks the cold weather. I dont plant tree without a plan!

Fortunately, i put it inside way before the cold front even occured Dimples Lee

I pruned half the leaves,it still looks wilted, but I am putting more water with b1 rooting hormones and sugar into it, the soil level looks so low because i didn't have enough to fill burnt enough to support extensive Root system

Nah Jf, not for protecting against weather, but sprinklers as they are right next to it within proximity, IDK why thy are holding fruits, i guess i put some chicken manure in when i planted, cant wait to try them!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Soursop seedling soil preparation
« on: October 29, 2016, 11:43:42 AM »
Hi, your soil seems pretty clay, like the kind we have here in SoCal, I'd reccomend putting huge amount of amendment because soursops are heavy feeders. It seems you are going to plant it in a very protected location, good! Best of luck to Mediterranean Soursop growin!

Hi, I plan on doing an experiment on grafting two mango varieties into a Manila mango rootstock, specifically, the maha chanok, and either a lemon zest, choc anon, or Carrie mango. Please give me the best advice you can on the experiment, I've got two split branches on the rootstock to go with. Detailed explanation of the cleft of bud grafting process would be appreciated.

Thanks again,
Matthew
