Mexican Lime problem.
« on: March 30, 2015, 07:03:00 PM »
My Mexican Lime got this bump on its trunk. I have no idea what it is. Should I cut it off? I don't know how to do it so I won't lose the tree. Any ideas?

I've seen weevils that get into trees that look like that.  Never seen it on citrus.  My guess is that there is something in there.
Is there a pin hole on it?
Should it be a critter you could stab it with a pin/nail.  The more slicing, the more damage.
I'd do a long vertical slice if you decide to explore, less cambium loss.

Thanks guys. I decided to cut the branch off. The tree is kinda leggy so it needs to be pruned anyway. I will also cut that bump open to see what is inside and take some pics.

I don't see any holes on it. I will explore it for sure.  :)

Bumps and irregularities like that are unlikely to be a major problem. There could be more injury problems with removing it than leaving it.
