Can't a lot of the sooty mold issue be taken care of by getting rid of the ants?

9B in Brazil:
I have had severe anthracnose infestations on my mangoes with no fruit production (flower panicles get infected and die before it fruits)  I want to plant some new varieties with the most resistance to anthracnose.  Any suggestions on which I should try?
