Zinc Sulfate

 Just wondering if any of you spray Zinc as a foliage spray? I had pecans that quit producing for two year so I  tried the Zinc and am now seeing little pecans all over the trees. During my research I came across the reference to Citrus benefiting from the same Zinc application. If you do spray Zinc, when is the best time to do it?

Krapes nice seeing you on the form again, Zinc deficiency is one of the most common deficiencies in citrus.  The best time to apply a zinc foliar spray on citrus is after blooming, and also after each growth flush. Doing so really helps to maintain a good crop of high quality fruit (reduces fruit drop).  .

Can we just apply zinc sulfate straight to the ground?  What advantage is there to spraying the tree?  I have been feeding a small amount to my avocado trees to the roots.

Yes, you can apply zinc sulfate as a ground application if your soil has a low pH, if not foliar spray is more effective.

I remember reading that zinc EDTA is better than zinc sulfate for ground application even in high pH soil, is that true ?.
