Amazing that the rollinia is so cold tolerant as they come right from the heart of the Amazon.
What's the white powder on your leaves?

So Oscar,

I guess you aren't interested in taking a pinky finger, or toe, for trade (mail me a rollinia fruit).

You can post pictures of my toe on your website, and get all sorts of media attention!!!

It will be great for business!  Besides, these pinkys and small toes have really been getting in my way.

Also,  I think If I prune my feet and hands back (just smaller digits pinkies and lil toes only) it will improve my manual dexterity.

So we up for a trade!

LOLOLOL

JUST KIDDING!!!

SORRY!!! HAD TO TAKE IT THERE!! LOL

If i could i would send you one fat rollinia, no pinkies needed. But that is totally forbidden, and if caught the ag dept. here would nail me to the cross. FYI the only fruits that can be sent out of Hawaii without treatment are pineapples and coconuts.

You guys are hilarious  ;D

Adam, please put me down for seeds.  I don't know what I will do with them later on, kinda limited on space at the moment; but that's definitely a good challenge for pot culture.

Amazing growing!  Good job.  I hope that fruit hangs in there.
Rollinia are one of my favorite fruits.  I just wish mine were more prolific.  I could eat them every day.

to make them more prolific, I think plant them in 75% sun, or FULL sun, and make sure they don't get too much wind...even though it can handle wind...its better it doesn't get wind...

Also pinch all of the tips, encouraging branching!  This makes for a more flower packed tree, I've found.

Also, keep regularly fertilizing with a fertilizer high in phosphorous, and not too high in nitrogen!!

Keep well watered!

GOOD LUCK!!

MY FRUIT WILL HOLD! I HAD A SPIRIT VISIT ME IN MY DREAMS THAT SAID IT WOULD...SAME WITH MY SOURSOP THAT FRUITED  LATE LAST YEAR IN A POT...LIKE SCROOGE, XMAS STORY...LOL

now that i've repotted this 25 gal tree to a 45 or so...its holding a lot more fruits, and requiring a lot less water.

If you container grow this tree, and it becomes rootbound (which is inevitable), it may be a good idea to put a dish underneath the tree!  I never did this, but I'm thinking of putting the tree in a kiddy pool (like i do for my jaboticaba) next spring...I think they can take a long flood...so If i leave them flooded for 2-3 weeks at a time, and let them dry up a bit for aeration, I think they will hold lots of fruits!!  My problem was drought...and my tree aborted tons of nice fruits that it should have held...they were perfect, but then the stem turned black, followed by fruit turning black way after.  I didn't water the tree enough, and it grew way too fast!

Now I'm looking good...hope to have fruits through the winter in a green house that's heated!!!
wish me luck..I might let u have a bite if u come visit...and if I get any fruits!  ;D

Yes, Biriba is way more cold tolerant than Soursop.

While Soursop can be completely defoliated by wind in the mid-40's, Biriba leaves won't usually be damaged until the temperature falls into frost range;  even then Biriba will usually retain a third or so of its leaves.

Is biriba better than soursop, flavor and texture wise?

Totally!!!

biriba is smooth and great out of hand, guanabana is usually cottony, and best for juicing, or processing.

more pics of some biriba trees in my yard

the first group of pics is of my largest oldest tree, it has a bunch of fruits setting from head to toe...and flowers coming nonstop for years now.  I love the bark and trunk of this one!

some other trees about a year and a half younger than my largest tree...these are in 15 gal pots, and started flowering quite small!  I'm hoping for some fruits to set while they are still small.  I see the flowers look a bit more elongated on the smaller trees, compared to my largest tree.

I love to walk amongst my Biriiba patch, its been years in the making, but i've dreamed of having this...I just can't wait to harvest bunches of these...it is my one of my most favorite fruits, and i intend to keep at least 4 trees for personal consumption.

Often Biriba doesn't fruit because of synchronicity of flowering--- all female-stage flowers one night, all male-stage flowers the next night.  Eventually the trees get past this by themselves.

Probably growing several in different spots with different micro-climates and irrigation cycles would provide pollen in one area that one could take to a tree with female-stage flowers open.
