Diaprepes beetles --- never see them here.
My Kent mango and citrus are attacked by leaf notcher and or Sri Lanken weevil. To me there is no difference, they are hard shelled weevils eating my leaves. My one lychee (Mauritius) is left alone for the most part as are my other mangoes. By no means do I condemn the Kent mango. It is likely a weaker Kent specimen or the micro-soil around it is just weaker. I do very little tip pruning on this Kent on lower branches I would normally prune. My theory is give them lower vegetation to munch on and they don't attack the newer higher growth. My strategy is to help the Kent mango tree to grow faster than the weevils can eat it

I have a Gold nugget mango next to my Kent and I see some weevils on it (that I kill) but a bare minimum of leaf damage. A stronger tree must have leaves that are not palatable to these Sri Lankan or leaf notchers. Might be more iron or magnesium in the leaves, maybe zinc or copper who knows?
