Citrus peel in compost
« on: May 01, 2018, 12:40:37 PM »
I read occasionally in this forum references that say to not put citrus peels in a compost pile.  Is there a reason for this?    Because I have been doing it for years with no bad effect I can see.  Maybe an old wives tale?
Near NRG Stadium, Houston Texas. USDA zone 9a

I would think that citrus peels would be a great addition to a compost pile,.

I add citrus peels to my compost and have not noticed any adverse effects.

I put citrus peels in my regular compost all the time, but I DON'T use them for vermicomposting.

I have a friend that uses only citrus for worms to train them. He says they do fine. I think they're fine when they're molded.
